The birth of a bakery?

I spent last Saturday evening running a cake stall at Central Baptist Church in Leicester, the venue for The Clean (As Possible) Comedy Show, part of the Leicester Comedy Festival.

CBC founded the Centre Project, where I work as a cook three days a week, and the idea was to use the evening as a way of piloting the possibility of developing a bakery project as part of the Centre's provision for vulnerable adults. On reflection I think the evening was largely successful, but preparing for it highlighted the kind of challenges that are inherent in starting a new initiative, predominantly a lack of clarity of expectation around money and time.

But you have to start somewhere, and nothing is ever plain sailing from start to finish. Onwards and upwards!
